Cedar shoe trees
Unfinished cedar absorbs sweat and holds the shoe's shape while it dries. Insert trees while the shoe is still warm from wear, then leave them in.
Rotation
Wearing the same pair daily compresses the midsole and cork before the upper is anywhere near worn out. Three pairs in rotation outlast five worn consecutively.
Storage conditions
Store shoes off the floor, out of direct sun and away from heat vents. Plastic boxes trap moisture; cotton bags and open shelves do not.
Long-term storage
For seasonal storage, clean and condition first, tree the shoes, and check them once mid-season for mould, which forms quickly on unconditioned leather.
When to bring it to us
